Santa baby…
The days are counting down, there’s even the possibility of a white Christmas, at least in my neck of the urban jungle. I can’t wait to see my family, which is the most important thing of all…but what about gifts?
I’m talking amazing, sometimes over the top, sometimes useful gifts! A girl can dream, can’t she? Here’s a list of things that I wouldn’t mind finding under the tree in 10 days.
Can I get a Quote? | Paul Rand: on originality
Mies van der Rohe once said that being good is more important than being original. Originality is a product, not an intention.

Greetings ladies and gents! It’s been a pretty good week despite the fact the temperature has been in the teens the last two days with wind chills below zero! Aside from that I am almost finished with shopping for presents but struggling to find those last few perfect things — my family is SO HARD to buy for! Oh, not to mention, I’ve been working very hard to not buy things for myself! Anyway, here’s what’s got my attention this week.

Greeting all! Hope everyone made it through Thanksgiving successfully! David and I had a very fun time with his family up in Nebraska. It was nice to take time out and be thankful.

I love this composition. Firstly, the nod to Russian Constructivism with the words seeming to come from Claudia’s slightly parted lips. Second, the font has a retro feel but is also interesting to me because I am not used to the Cyrillic alphabet. Third, again, she’s looking at the text, so naturally the reader is drawn to it. Lastly, so many fashion magazines don’t utilize the opening spread, so many times a fashion story starts on the right hand page. I think an opening spread like this is a refreshing thing to see!
Can I get a Quote? | Carl Ally: on the creative person
The creative person wants to be a know-it-all. He wants to know about all kinds of things: ancient history, nineteenth-century mathematics, current manufacturing techniques, flower arranging, and hog futures. Because he never knows when these ideas might come together to form a new idea. It may happen six minutes later or six months, or six years down the road. But he has faith that it will happen.”

Can I get a quote? | Paul Rand: on humor
I steered towards humorous things. People who don’t have a sense of humor really have serious problems.
— Paul Rand, Interview with Steven Heller 1988
