I really wish I could think of something clever to do for April Fools, but seeing how I hate surprises, it’s not in my nature.

So…let’s talk some grabs ‘n stabs!

GRABBY

ModCloth sent out an email for their swim collection, and it’s all Noir-Glamour. It’s making me think old-Hollywood thoughts.

Even more swimwear, this time from the luxurious Agent Provocateur. I love the Risa style, the details give the suit a denim-like feel.

I however do not need bathing suits this year, as I have a Penguin bikini that I got 2 years ago and have worn maybe 3 times, and I have an Ester Williams halter one-piece in leopard print that I wore ONCE last year. Just ridiculous. I need to at least go to the community center indoor pool more, because at least there I don’t have to douse myself in SPF 80, which is a big reason I find going to the pool so laborious. I love swimming but hate the sun. It’s complicated.

Ordering vintage cat-eye glasses online! I’m so excited to get them, I will post pictures once they arrive!

The NPR iPhone app. I know this is lame, because turning on the radio isn’t difficult, but man, I love that while I am getting ready in the morning I can listen to local NPR while putting on makeup, and just take my phone with me and listen in the kitchen while I eat breakfast. It pretty much rules.

She Wants Revenge and Psychadelic Furs coming to The Midland in June. It SHOULD be an awesome concert.

Rockabilly Prom was rainy, but it was a lot of fun. I am really glad that I’ve gotten to see Wanda Jackson now.

Finding new delicious places to eat by my office!

I’m grabby for the phrase “not for nothing”. It appears in the introduction for this opinion piece about why print isn’t dying any time soon.

Shoes from White House Black Market that I bought in December and wore for the first time on March 31st.

Taking pictures of my feet in new shoes and using the Camera Bag app “mono” filter to make them cool.

STABBY

My head hurts because I ran outside last night with some co-workers and quickly became aware that it is in fact Spring and I still have allergies. My sinuses hate me.

Friends have lost people they love this week and that’s always hard. I am terrible at knowing what to say.

Wedding planning. I know what I want but can’t seem to decide on a date. Everything is too soon, or too far away, or the temperature at whatever time of year is too hot or too cold. One cool thing is that David’s mom apparently didn’t think it was at all weird that I might wear a black dress.

Nude high heels. Seriously, they just look gross on everyone.

People who work somewhere and don’t even know what the store carries. I don’t care if you are a gay man and don’t care about lingerie, you should at LEAST know what brands your store carries. Also, answer your damn phone, or put your hours on your website. This is all just more support for my theory that small business owners are all insane. I love them, but MAN. Frustrating.

Well, m’friends, I think that is all for now. I think we’re in for a lovely First Friday art walk tomorrow, and I am looking forward to that. Aside from getting out for that, and going to Grandma and Grandpa’s for Easter dinner, I think I’m going to have a pretty quiet weekend, which pleases me. Happy Thursday everyone!

Small business stabby: drove 35 miles one-way to a restaurant assignment after first confirming by phone he’d be open all that particular day. Got there and the joint was locked up tight. Called the chef’s cell phone, “I’m cooking in Stillwater (60 miles away), got a catering job I couldn’t pass up.” No sign on the door, nothing posted at the website. “Sorry pal, I was here to review you for XXX paper, but no way I’d recommend you to their readers now under the circumstances. Goodbye.”

Oh, I’d be SO MAD. Can’t say it surprises me though, but he passed up business in his restaurant to go cater? How about having an emergency plan and having someone to work BOTH places? I do not understand the small business owner logic. Not at all.
