A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to pose for some photos with Rachael Major of Atomic Photography, out of Lawrence, Kansas. As we made these plans at 11:30 p.m. Friday night, there wasn’t a lot of time to plan outfits and locations.
We decided to wander around downtown Lawrence and see what we could come up with. Luckily for us, aside from some wind, the weather was perfect, and I talked my friend, writer, Katy Ryan into coming along as my assistant — and she took some “behind the scenes” photos!
Outside shoots can be hard. You’ve got the elements, and in the case of downtown Lawrence, nerds hiding in the bushes at the park playing a role playing game. Yeah, I know. Katy helped me change in and out of my impossibly high cherry print heels as we walked from location to location, for which I was very grateful.
Here are a few of the final shots…
Rachael was so much fun to work with — I can’t wait to do it again soon! Special thanks to Katy for helping me out! Oh, BTW, Louise LeMans is my pinup moniker, and I’ve got a new blog in the works to chronicle some of the experience of being involved in this stuff! I’m super excited, so look for an announcement about that soon!

My pleasure, lovely – I had a blast! You can bring me along as your assistant anytime. I’ll be sure to continue lifting weights, too, in case I need to draw on a supply of upper-body strength to tackle hidden role-playing geeks

I had a blast working with you too! It was so funny trying to figure out what was going on before we finally realized they were role playing in magic nerd land. I heart you, Lawrence. Great behind the scenes photos Katy!
Girl, you are MADE for Trashy Diva dresses! I’m excited to hear about your trip to NOLA and to the store… it’s such a lovely place to be in. Can’t wait to see what you pick out!
